Our friends at Menton

My favourite church in Menton
(and the sea)

Menton is a small, charming town near the Italian border, tucked away between the folds of the hills and the clear blue Mediterranean Sea, blending both the old and the cosmopolitan into a heady mix of brash Riviera and calm tranquility, at least that's what mummy read from the guide book.  I just thought is was quite pretty, had a church where I could sing a lot, and where they had swings for seats in the beach front cafe where we ate some ice creams.  And it had a lot of swings and slides, but more about that later.

We went to Menton to visit Susanne and David and their two children, Catherine and Christopher.  Mummy has known Susanne since they were both younger than Catherine, which must be a long time because Mummy and Susanne are much bigger than Catherine.  They have a house up on a hill, with a very wonky garden.

Me showing Christopher and Catherine how to use a slide - ready, steady, go!

We went to a park in Menton, where Mummy and Susanne sat under a tree and talked, whilst I showed Christopher and Catherine how to use the slide.  As you can see, Christopher understood my lessons, but Catherine didn't seem to get the hang of it!

We spent a lovely weekend with Susanne, David, Christopher and Catherine (and Scooby the dog), and left on the Monday morning for a long journey in the car on the way home.  On the way back we stopped at a hotel where I could see trains from the window, which was very exciting.  Mummy bought some funny coloured mustard for grandad in the morning, and after another long journey in the car and on the Shuttle we were home again.
