On Monday, our first car free day, we walked to La Petite Ferme, walking distance from the site. The boys were, as you can see, resplendent in their "Noah's Ark" shirts and shorts, ready to meet the animals.

Despite the public hioliday the Ferme wasn't crowded, and they'd made some improvements from last year. You still can't get a decent cup of coffee at 11am (although staff were serving themselves steaming espressos and foaming cappuccinos, we were directed to the Nescafe vending machine). However, two new play areas had been added, and other rides moved to provide more space.

Last year Matthew slept through James' pony ride, but this year he was straight on, enjoying the ride around the pony track. James' pony was quite fast; each time I tried to get ahead of James to take a photo, the pony went to a gallop to catch up. The boys also enjoyed a 'tour de sulky' where there was a choice of (toy) horse-led cart or pedalled go-kart. Both rides were included in the admission price, which since Matthew (at only 2) had free admission was good value for money.

We'd struggled to get a life jacket on James last year, but this year he had the jacket on before you could say 'petit bateau' and as Matthew was still awake Malcolm was also able to enjoy the boat ride for the first time.

We had an excellent lunch in the Petite Ferme restaurant - expensive by the standards of similar UK attractions, but much better food. The boys couldn't finish their chips (one portion between two) but ate all the nuggets de poulet, and Matthew helped finish my quiche.

After the boat ride and lunch, we headed for the giant inflated chicken, which was actually a slide. Both James and Matthew went up and down time and again.

What goes up.....
...must come down...
...and down.
